About Bytedance

ByteDance's Seed team develops general-purpose models and generative media systems. On GPTProto, ByteDance routes span Seed and Doubao language models for chat, reasoning, coding, and visual understanding, Seedream models for image generation and editing, and Seedance models for video generation. Some Model IDs also use Doubao, Dreamina, or Dola prefixes; these identify specific catalog routes rather than separate task categories. This ByteDance models collection reflects models supported on GPTProto, not every model released by ByteDance. The catalog is updated as supported availability changes, so review each live model card for its current ID, inputs, outputs, parameters, and pricing.

Why Use ByteDance Models with GPTProto?

Compare task fit and current costs across ByteDance text, image, and video routes from one GPTProto account.

One Key Across Modalities

Use one GPTProto API key for supported ByteDance text, image, and video routes instead of managing separate provider credentials.

Affordable, Visible Pricing

Compare current pay-as-you-go prices on live model cards before testing or scaling each workflow.

One Shared Balance

Fund one GPTProto balance and use it across ByteDance models and other supported providers.

Route-Specific Controls

Open each model page to review supported parameters, request fields, billing units, and task routes before deployment.

ByteDance API FAQ

Which ByteDance models are available on GPTProto?

The live catalog above shows the ByteDance models currently supported on GPTProto. It may include Seed and Doubao language models, Seedream image routes, and Seedance video routes. Availability can change, so verify the live Model ID before production deployment.

What is the difference between Seed, Seedream, and Seedance?

Seed refers to ByteDance's general model work, including language, reasoning, coding, agent, and multimodal-understanding tasks. Seedream is the image generation and editing family. Seedance is the video generation family.

What do Doubao, Dreamina, and Dola mean in the Model IDs?

They are ByteDance product or route prefixes that appear in specific GPTProto Model IDs. They do not create separate task families. Copy the exact ID from the selected live model card and follow that route's documentation.

Which ByteDance model should I use for images or video?

Start with Seedream for image generation or editing and Seedance for video generation. Then use the Picker and model pages to compare reference support, output settings, billing units, and current pricing.

Do I need a separate ByteDance API key?

No. Use your GPTProto API key and shared GPTProto balance to access supported ByteDance routes. You do not need to manage a separate ByteDance key for these GPTProto endpoints.

Do all ByteDance models use the same endpoint and request format?

No. Text, image, and video routes can use different endpoints, fields, parameters, and asynchronous polling flows. Follow the documentation for the specific Model ID you choose.

How does ByteDance API pricing work on GPTProto?

GPTProto uses prepaid credits and pay-as-you-go billing. Text models may be billed by token, while image and video routes may be billed by generation and selected output settings. Check the live model card for the current unit and price. Purchased credits are generally final and non-refundable except where required by law or otherwise agreed by GPTProto.

How does GPTProto process ByteDance API inputs and outputs?

GPTProto transmits API inputs to third-party model providers to complete requests and may retain input or output content briefly for transaction processing and error debugging. Technical usage metadata may also be logged. Data sent to an upstream provider is subject to that provider's policies.
